RESEARCH: Title Sequences

Art of the title- analysis of title sequences

  • Opening credits usually feature the name of the film's production company, director and producer, the author (if it was based on a book), and the lead actors (often showing them on screen with their name).
  • Fonts are mostly designed specifically for the film to give it a unique and easily recognisable logo.
  • Behind the opening credits we are usually introduced to a couple of main characters, or see the plot reflected in visuals.
  • What is seen is accompanied with music which suits the theme and genre of the film, and creates an atmosphere to put the audience into the world of the film.
  • As well as creating a mood and atmosphere, the title sequences also puts the audience into the film by showing where and when the film is set.
  • Titles sequences, although link to the film, can be interesting pieces that stand out on their own.
