High School Drama - Rough Edit 2

Working on Motion for production and distribution idents.

Working on Motion

This particular template was a rough idea of what are final idents can look like. It was an alternative, incase we decided to download a title from youtube. I placed the production and the name of the film on the titles. This can be seen as a more simpler alternative, but from a personal perspective on one I found, I like the combined effects applied from, to make it look like a clever design. I downloaded this particular template from Youtube, and placed the production titles "Group 27, while also applying a fast paced soundtrack over the top. The fonts used is called "Comic sands TM". It's a relatively basic effect used with a type of turquoise colour.

This particular template was for the distribution ident. It can be seen as metaphorical because the branches are spreading and distributing, in the same way we are attempting to distribute our film and share it.

This particular template was for the production ident. Using the "Hatcheck" font, and applying a red colour, It flows along with the red vines, but also adding a retro feel.

Motion

Motion templates

For our film template, we are considering using two types of template. One of them is creating our template on the editing software "Motion", and secondly using a downloadable template from the internet. In the opening scene credit, one of the template we are using is themed on "Skyline"with the title of the film being labeled "Typical High School".

In terms of fonts, we are contemplating using several. One example, is the font called "El Valiente". We could use this because of it's funky and retro design, also applying a red coloured font to match the flowing red pattern swerving through the buildings in the template. Another font which could possibly applied can be the "Dripping Marker" font. They both seem conventional for a high school based film, especially the dripping marker because graffitiing can be seen as a hobby from high school students.

As an alternative, We might decide to download a title from youtube, while placing the production and the name of the film on the titles. (This is one of the titles we could use.)

Film Shots

This is a shot of me walking into college, long shot.

This picture shows Jake filming the 'new kid' from a different place for a close up of me entering through the automatic doors.

This is a picture of the 'new kid' coming in through the doors, a shot which can be used as a matchcut.

Jake is still on the camera, filming just the 'new kid' approach the camera.

This is a picture of the college sign as that was one shot was going to be taken to give a sense of where we are.

This is a shot of Suad and Jake trying to get a nice clear shot

This is a picture of Jake and Suad adjusting the camera so it gets the sign through using the toggle button, reviewing footage and Suad holding onto the tripod as it was unstable and needed to still in order to record.

This is a picture of the camera shooting the 'New Kid' from behind to get part of his face and a bit of sign to which he is looking at.

This is a picture, of Jake getting a close up of the 'New Kid' from the side to show more clearly he is looking at something.

This is a picture of the 'New Kid' entering the college as the weather of this day was different to how it was for shots that were taken another day. Thus the shot was taken again.

Tweets

Using the social networking, Twitter, I was able to spread the news of the title sequence me and my group are working on. It also helps increase people's awareness of my group's title sequence and the difficulties associated with filming.

These are some tweets of shots that were taken when filming still images, and responding to the pitch feedback that our teacher had given us in terms of what can be improved and what sill needed to thought out.

This is a tweet of me working on creating the original soundtrack for my group's film, as I feel it would seem better if it was an original soundtrack rather than a non-copyrighted track.

There were some problems when filming, one of which was the weather as it was pouring with rain which would be impossible for us to record in as the equipment would get damaged thus we had to withdraw from filming that day. Aside from that, there were shots that took quite a while to do, for one shot that took long was doing a shot of the college sign to show where we are.

Timetoast of title credits

Diary Entry

So far:

Although we have completed most of the shots from the storyboard, there are still that need to be redone. After evaluating most of the shots, we found that that we were unhappy with some of out shots because they did not display a large variety of shot types, focus of structure and we also found that some of our shots were blurry. As a result of this, we reshot a lot of these but we still have some shots that still need redoing. We will start editing this week and will continue to do so during both lesson and workshop hours.
